Candise Pipkin

I'm a native Californian, with an obsession for horses, that started at a very early age. One of my earliest memories is at the age of 2, I adamantly refused to leave the house for church until my parents let me change into my cowboy boots. This would always be a great embarassment for my sister and three brothers. When I was 6, we lived within walking distance of Palos Verdes Stables, where I would spend thirteen wonderful years beginning my equine education. At 12, my first horse Reggie, a beautiful Buckskin, arrived outside my bedroom window on a rainy Christmas morning. In subsequent years, I learned that I not only loved riding, but I began enjoying helping the vet provide treatment and aftercare on Reggie, and other horses at the barn. I attended Cal Poly San luis Obisbo, as an Animal Science Major, followed by a Horsemanship program at Pacific Horse Center in Elk Grove, California. This led to nine years of Riding, Showing, Stable Management, Riding School Instructor, and assisting a successful Hunter Trainer In 1984. I had the great opportunity to be an assistant Barn Manager during the Los Angeles Olympics- it was an experience of a lifetime. Shortly afterward, I was hired by Rainbow Canyon Ranch. I started by Riding, Teaching, Assisting at Horse Shows, Grooming and Barn Management. In 1990, I became the Full-time Barn Manager, with duties ranging from managing daily operations, injury care, overseeing the Riding School, Working Student, ROP, and College P.E Programs. My life with horses has been blessed from the get-go. I have been so fortunate to learn, and continue to learn, from so many great horsemen, riders, owners, grooms and horses. I am extremely proud to be associated with Rainbow Canyon Ranch.
