Kim Tasker-Rider/Trainer
My Mom always says I was born with the love of horses. I began riding lessons at the age of 8, in La Canada, California. It was there where I learned to ride and knew then I'd never go without riding in my life. For six years, I rode in Pony Club events, caroused the trails, and showed at small shows, even the then famous Flintridge Childrens Show. One year at Flintridge, I was watching all the fine riders and their trainers, and realized there was an entirely different quality of instruction and a higher level of showing available.
At age 14, I began my show career at Rosewood Riding Club. Through a family friend, I was able to become a working student for Scott and Andy O'Neil, founders of the Rosewood Medal. Thanks to their efforts and guidance, I quickly learned what it took to be a quality rider. They found a donated mare named Two's Company that had been a difficult Grand Prix horse, to make into my medal horse. I showed catch rides on sale horses in the Junior Hunters, while still riding my mare in the Equitation and Junior Jumpers. The highlights of my Junior years would be: Sixth Place USET Finals West, Top 15 Maclay Regionals, Top Ten LAHSA Finals, Top 15 AHSA Regionals, along with year end PCHA and LAHSA Equitation Championships.
At the end of my Junior Year Scott and Andy retired, so I chose to persue my interest in Accounting at Cal State Nothridge, riding only as time allowed. I boarded my horses at John Higginsons', a well known Quarter Horse Trainer, where eventually I began helping him with his English horses. Finally, missing the show scene, I focused my career entirely on becoming a successful professional, Horse Trainer that is. I began working at Rainbow Canyon Ranch by seeking help with a green hunter. Seventeen years later, I am still happily working for Rainbow Canyon Ranch, as part of a very successful team. I am proud of producing major medal finals winners in the following prestegious events: AHSA Adult Regional Finals, LAHSA Junior and Senior, LAHSA Horsemanship, Zone Ten Medal Finals, SFVHSA Junior and Senior ,Foxfield and PCHA Adult. I am also pleased to have ridden and trained year end Champions in LAHSA, SFVHSA, and PCHA Region One. The most enjoyable experience of all is to see and be a part of the joy of someone winning, or learning something new.

Candise Pipkin-Barn Manager/Instructor
I'm a native Californian, with an obsession for horses, that started at a very early age. One of my earliest memorys is at the age of 2, I adamantly refused to leave the house for church until my parents let me change into my cowboy boots. This would always be a great embarassment for my sister and three brothers.
When I was 6, we lived within walking distance of Palos Verdes Stables, where I would spend thirteen wonderful years beginning my equine education. At 12, my first horse Reggie, a beautiful Buckskin, arrived outside my bedroom window on a rainy Christmas morning. In subsequent years, I learned that I not only loved riding, but I began enjoying helping the vet provide treatment and aftercare on Reggie, and other horses at the barn.
I attended Cal Poly San luis Obisbo, as an Animal Science Major, followed by a Horsemanship program at Pacific Horse Center in Elk Grove, California. This led to nine years of Riding, Showing, Stable Management, Riding School Instructor, and assisting a successful Hunter Trainer
In 1984, I had the great opportunity to be an assistant Barn Manager during the Los Angeles Olympics- an experience of a lifetime. Shortly afterward, I was hired by Rainbow Canyon Ranch. I started by Riding, Teaching, Assisting at Horse Shows, Grooming and Barn Managment. In 1990, I became the Full-time Barn Manager, with duties ranging from managing daily operations, injury care, overseeing the Riding School, Working Student, ROP, and College P.E Programs.
My life with horses has been blessed from the get-go. I have been so fortunate to learn, and continue to learn, from so many great horsemen, riders, owners, grooms and horses. I am extremely proud to be associated with Rainbow Canyon Ranch.

Lauren Kiggins-Instructor/Assistant Trainer
When I was very young my Mom and I would drive past local stables in the area and stop to watch kids jump. I would tell her "that's what I want to do". At the time she thought I was crazy, because no one in my family knew anything about horses or had ever ridden one.
I continued to be very persistant expressing my desire to ride. At the age of seven my Mom allowed me to start taking informal riding lessons through a friend. I was hooked.
At the age of nine, my family moved to Northern California, I located a trainer in the area, she taught Eventing, at the time I had no idea what I was getting into, but, I knew I wanted to jump. Eventually, at the age of eleven, I had saved up enough money to buy my first horse.
When I was finally getting my knack for Eventing, my family moved back to Southern California. I turned my interest to Hunters and Jumpers, I rode with several local trainers , but mostly rode and went to horse shows on my own.
As I graduated High School and was thinking about College and a career, I decided I wanted to become a Make-up artist. I never wanted to stop riding so I took classes at Community College, and became licenced as an Esthetician.
As I became an amateur with a job, I was able to ride with some very knowledgable horse trainers. I wanted to keep my skills well rounded so I trained with Kim Tasker and Patrick Spanton for the Hunter ring, Susan Hutchison for the jumper ring, and Flora Jean Weiss for my Dressage background.
I then realized how much I wanted to pass on my knowledge and teach riding lessons. I decided to get certified through ARIA, American Riding Instructors Assosiation. After I was certified, I taught for the City of Lights Pony Club for a year, at that time I decided I wanted to do more. I was working for a local tack shop and heard Rainbow Canyon was looking for instructors, I applied for the position, and was lucky enough to get it. Since I had ridden there as an amateur I knew Rainbow was a place where I would really be happy.
